Administrator
Like on every website and forum on the internet, the admin and moderators can see your IP associated with your post. Even if the forum didn't see the IP, the access.log for the web server would. It would be trivial for me to check the post time on the forum and correlate it with the access log, to see what was posted from which IP.

A certain level of trust needs to be put in the administrator/s of every website. For example, if you don't host your own email, the administrators of the email server can read your emails. Even if you do host your email, the people to whom you send an email might not, in which case the admin of their email provider could read the emails.

The rules stress that you should not expect privacy, not even in private messages, that's why it is imperative not to post identifying information, talk about real life action or meetups. Again, the rules mention this.

I am trying to run this place as transparently as I can. I know that may not be enough for some.

If you don't wish your IP to be seen, use a VPN or Tor. This forum is fast and mostly text, you will not see a noticeable difference in your browsing/posting experience. Tor is free, but rhere are also free proxies and VPNs (with throttled speed/bandwidth, but this forum is mostly text so that shouldn't be a problem).

I apologise for not making this announcement sooner, I should have been aware that not all might be familiar with the IP situation.

Clear the logs so anyone who didn't use a VPN or public internet is safer, if that is possible. I'm lucky in that I either use VPN's, TOR or public internet, but I would imagine there are some who have their actual IP address logged here.

Thanks for the warning.
This should be common knowledge these days. Every site you visit will have access to the IP you use to connect with. The only way to avoid this is by using a proxy of some kind to hide your original IP.
